Adult Health Transportation services in Alabama provide non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) for eligible Medicaid recipients to access necessary healthcare services.
Service Description
- Transportation to medical appointments, including doctor's offices, hospitals, and clinics
- Covers both emergency and non-emergency ambulance services
- Includes rides via taxi, public transit, and specialized vehicles for those with mobility needs
Eligibility
- Must be a Medicaid recipient with full benefits
- Transportation must be to Medicaid-covered services
Provider Requirements
- Providers must be enrolled with the Alabama Medicaid Agency
- Drivers must meet state qualifications and background check requirements
Requesting Transportation
- Recipients must call the Medicaid Call Center at 1-800-362-1504 to request transportation
- Requests should be made within two weeks prior to the appointment or within 24 hours after
- Recipients need to provide their Medicaid number, appointment details, and provider information
Service Area
- Available throughout Alabama
- Special considerations for out-of-area care (greater than 100 miles)
